This morning we got up around 6 am to get to the “monkey village.” We walked through the forest with a guide who kept making a calling noise. He was carrying a bag of bananas that we had bought to lure the monkeys. We didn’t see any on the walk, but as we were making our way back to the village, we saw one. We took out the bananas and then watched as monkeys come crawling out of the trees. They were tiny monkeys, but I cannot remember their name. The guide took the bananas out, and the monkeys came up to him and ate out of his hand. It was crazy. By the end of it, there were monkeys crawling all over the other girls. I did not want them on me!
We then had breakfast with our families. They made us an omelet with tomatoes and onions in a giant hot dog bun. It was much better, and Heather and I were able to eat it all. They also made us strawberry tea, but I did not like mine so I did not drink it.
After breakfast we stopped at a local school. At the time the kids were "weeding." Weeding means taking a machete and hacking at the tall grass. It was their exam week, so we went into the classes and wished them luck on their tests. We got to sing songs with them, and it was great fun.
From here we went back to the ship, and on the way we stopped at Southern Fried Chicken for lunch. Heather and I split a vegetarian pizza, Carla got Lebanese food, and Jackie got fried chicken. It was great, until a giant moth got beheaded by the fan above us. The body bounced off of my food. It was nasty.
