Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - Day 2, Part 3

On our way back, we stopped for dinner at a place called Ngan 138; it looked like a fancy restaurant.  It was one we had almost gone to the night before, only to find out it was closed for Tet.  The food there wasn’t that great.  We got the classic spring rolls and chicken pho.  It was not as great as the first night, but the establishment was pretty nice, and we did get it for a cheap price.  Less than ten dollars total.  Everything is very cheap in Vietnam.

The two of us decided that we wanted to get online for a little while, so we went back to the hotel where we got dropped off at.  On the bus to the hotel, our friend Ayla told us about her plans to go to Phu Quoc that night for really cheap.  She wanted to get the price even cheaper, so she invited Heather and I.  She told us that the bus there was booked for that night; in the morning we would catch a ferry to the island and then find someplace to stay.  None of the transportation after the initial bus ride was booked.  Heather and I had no plans and were looking for an adventure, so we decided to go.  The cost of the bus was only 27 dollars.  That was pretty cheap for a 7 hour ride.

We went to the ship and packed our stuff in 30 minutes, then got back on a bus to the hotel.  The both of us needed money, so we walked with our backpacks in front of us down the main street.  We went to closest ATM and got some cash, after checking for anything funny first of course.  There were still about 20 minutes before we needed to meet, so we went and got Baskin Robbins ice cream.  I got brownie a la mode, and it was delicious.  The whole time my adrenaline was rushing, because I knew I was in for a great adventure.
